Tutoring Services Available for grades K-6.
As we rapidly move into the 21st century, children of color have become the majority population in America’s public schools. Yet, those same children still experience the inequities, economically and academically, that were plaguing them when they represented the minority of students. According to the Southern Education Foundation’s independent analysis of the National Assessment for Educational Progress (NAEP) in 2019, “Students across all ethic groups posted lower results, with low proficiency levels particularly affecting students from low-income families, African American students and Hispanics.”
In 2019 Khalifah Academy hosted a 4-weeks summer literacy camp at W.D. Mohammed Islamic Center in Greensboro, NC. And upon returning to school for the fall 2019-2020 academic year, one student’s teacher inquired about her increased literacy skills, which the teacher said had improved 2 levels. Nevertheless, Khalifah Academy can not do this job without the help of volunteers, fundraisers, grants, and donations from supporters. As we grow, Khalifah Academy will be seeking help from community stakeholders and sponsors by building relationships with families, local education agencies, colleges, and businesses. In conclusion, a wise man once said that “Knowledge is the lost property of the people,” thus, Khalifah Academy’s goal is to restore “knowledge” to the people.
